Who I Am and Why This Blog

My name is Rachel, and I like to hike! I was a Park Ranger in South Carolina for a year and a half and it was one of the best jobs I was lucky enough to hold. But when I wasn’t making enough money to pay rent, let alone even get to paying the bills, I knew I couldn’t keep this job for long. The timing just didn’t work out for me, but my love of the outdoors didn’t go away because my career switched gears. But with a 9-5 job sitting a desk, then time with family, and balancing income between bills and a little time for play, there is a greater effort involved with making time for hiking, exercise, and fitness. I started this blog because I am passionate about leaving the normal day to day routine behind and venturing into the outdoors. I feel drawn to it, just as I feel drawn toward sharing my adventures, thoughts, photographs, and, sometimes, struggles with you. Maybe you’ll want to visit these amazing places as well!

My goal is to hike as many, if not all, trails in South Carolina, but you will also find posts for North Carolina and Georgia. I crave difficult hikes with rewarding views and sights! So, I am often looking to the mountains and searching for unique trails. Unfortunately, we just don’t have a lot of that near where I live, right in the middle of South Carolina. But one of the goals of this blog is to bring to light those unique places located closer than you think. There are a few gems that can be found when you take the time to search.

I hope you enjoy my blog, please feel free to reach out to me! I love to hear from other adventurers who have been on the never ending search for the best hikes!
